About Dan

Dan Guillemette is the current Team Physiotherapist at Australian registered professional cycling team Jayco-AlUla and is responsible for overseeing injury prevention, the management and rehabilitation of injuries and the maintenance of athlete musculoskeletal health. Prior to joining the team in 2018, Dan was Lead Physiotherapist at Team Sky for 6 years.

Dan has a special interest in cycling kinetics and kinematics, and the clinical relevance of conventional theories in optimising bike position. As an integral member of the Performance Team Dan applies his knowledge of the musculoskeletal profile of the elite professional athletes to support the coaches in achieving optimal performance in combination with monitoring the health and well-being of the riders.

He is able to utilise his expertise and experience from working within elite sport to support all levels of athletes to optimise their abilities and achieve improved performance.

Originating from Guernsey, Dan attained his BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Bradford in 2004. After some time working within the NHS he returned to Guernsey to work in Private Practice, where he specialised in sports orthopaedic medicine with an interest in lower limb pathologies.

In 2011 Dan gained his MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Bath and subsequently joined Team Sky, becoming Lead Physiotherapist in 2012.

As a key member of the performance team he has contributed to multiple victories including the Tour de France and La Vuelta Espana. Dan acted as physiotherapist to the GB men’s and women’s road cycling teams and supported them to success at the 2012 London Olympics. Dan has travelled to several World Championships with Great Britain, New Zealand and currently works with the Australian National Team.  He has also attended a number of Commonwealth and International Island Games both as a competitor and part of the medical team.

In addition to lecturing internationally on cycling related topics, Dan remains a part-time Teaching Fellow at the University of Bath on the MSc Sports Physiotherapy programme. When not on his bike, Dan can be found somewhere in the waves pursuing his passion for surfing.
